EMMITSBURG, MD --(Marketwired - March 04, 2016) - Mount St. Mary's University today announced that its men's basketball team will move on to the Northeast Conference semifinals on Saturday, March 5 when they face Fairleigh Dickinson University. The game will be played at Fairleigh Dickinson and has a 2pm tip off. It will be televised on MSG+, FCS, and NEC Front Row.

The Mount rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit on Wednesday night to defeat St. Francis Brooklyn 60-51 in the tournament quarterfinals. BK Ashe led the team with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, and also became the 46th player in school history to reach the 1000 career points milestone.

"We pride ourselves on being the toughest when the pressure is the highest and adversity strikes. This is a big win for our program," said Mount St. Mary's Coach Jamion Christian. "When you go against a great team like that with a great coach, they really have a sense of who they are. It makes it even more satisfying. St. Francis Brooklyn is a very special team -- he's (coach Braica) done an outstanding job."

In the tournament's other bracket, Wagner will face LIU Brooklyn on Saturday at 4pm. The NEC Men's Basketball Tournament Championship game will be played Tuesday, March 8 at 7pm, and be televised on ESPN2. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament.

"For the Mount fans and alumni in attendance and for all of those watching from home, it was so exciting to see our men's basketball team advance to our third NEC tournament semi-final game in the past four years," said Mount St. Mary's Athletic Director Lynne Robinson. "The excitement continues as we prepare to face a very strong Fairleigh Dickinson University team on Saturday."
